Chez Catherine is consistently rated one of the Best French Restaurants in New Jersey. It provides a wonderful dining experience from the warm greeting when you enter to the last sip of wine. This mainstay of Westfield, NJ for the last 38 years delivers quality cuisine and impeccable service.
The owner, Stephane Bocket was born in Dunkerque, France. Stephane was the Maitre d'Hotel for 12 years before purchasing Chez Catherine in 2016. His career spans many years at Alain Ducasse's restaurants in NYC and France and before that in a number of other restaurants throughout France.
The Chef de Cuisine is Christine Migton. Christine graduated from the Culinary Institute of America. Her dishes revisit traditional French cuisine but use different flavors and tastes. She works to provide lighter and healthier ingredients wherever possible while maintaining that special French touch.

So lovely! The perfect host and wait staff, easy ambiance and a delicious French meal. Our choices this evening were Mesclun salade, mussels, risotto, mushroom soup, duck breast and red snapper… all excellent. As a fan of the desert soufflés, the Grand Marnier version did not disappoint. So happy to return again and again.

Although overall I did enjoy our meal, I felt for the cost of this high end restaurant it did not meet my expectations. The positives, the cheese plate was excellent. The vegetable accompaniment to my main course were cooked to perfection. However, the escargot could have used more seasoning, it was on the bland side. My main course, pan seared scallops would have been enjoyed more served hot. And my dessert, Grand Marnier Soufle although looked magnificent, I did not enjoy although that may have been a texture thing. My bhusband faired much better with all his dinner selections.

Delicious menu, exquisite and friendly service, refined ambiance, and an impressive wine list. It has been—and continues to be—our favorite local dining destination for special occasions. We had a special anniversary dinner. The food and service was truly outstanding. We were able to quietly talk to each other —it was an oasis.

Ambiance very nice, relatively to very quite, bathroom a number of steps down and up (not convenient for elderly), wait staff pleasant and helpful. Food served hot, portion reasonable but beef not very tasty but lean. Cream Brule excellent, cocktail drink portion very small, escargot very good. Convenient parking. Pleasant environment. Not rushed to finish.

Very disappointed. Expected a wonderful French Restaurant experience. The place was beautiful and intimate but when filled with diners too noisy to hear others at our table. Wine pour was very skimpy for $18 glass of wine. Service was timely. manager was rushing around multitasking - not relaxing. The plain lobster Risotto was about a cup with a tiny piece of lobster garnish. The duck was over salty and the sauce was sloshed around the dish. Milfeuille desert was just Ok. Small cup of coffee/no refills. $300 for two people. Never again
