Char is a lovely venue though a bit dark in the main dining room. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They sat us in the brightest part of restaurant. The food was excellent but on the high side. The outside is absolutely beautiful but it was closed for renovation when we dined. The staff said it would be open within the next few weeks. We had a very enjoyable dinner.

Everything is Overpriced: food, drinks, wine. Good, not great. Shame on Char and Open Table that they fail to inform on the website and when confirming the reservation that they add A LOT to the bill if you use a credit card to pay. Had I known, I would have brought cash and saved about $18.00 'added' charge. Parking lot area is so-so. Front door entry looks more like a warehouse than a fine restaurant. Inside ambiance is fine. Best steaks I have ever had are the ones I grill at home.

Char is the best. From Mgmt. To the staff, they treat you like family. Best food and best service. Ehab is the best waiter ever. He is very friendly, caring and helpful. Please visit and support his central Jersey’s best steakhouse.

Food was generally good but entrees came out way too fast after the appetizers as we had not yet finished our salads. Steak was ordered medium but came out medium rare, so we sent it back tp be cooked longer. Waiter was very nice but hard to find during dinner as they did not check on us very much.

We came to Char to celebrate my son's graduation. We were a party of five, and we all ordered either just steaks or surf & turf. The food was well prepared, very tasty, and everyone enjoyed their meals. Service was very attentive. The restaurant is very pricey though, and everything is a la carte. I feel for the price, at least 1 side should be included with dinner entrees (does anyone really order a steak without a side?).
