Chapter One est un restaurant européen moderne situé juste à l'extérieur de Orpington dans le Kent. A lovely meal to celebrate a special event with the family. The staff were very attentive. Only small criticism was the cheese trolley smelt in the heat but guess this is not normally an issue in the UK! Will definitely return.

They've made a great effort to retain a fine dining restaurant with a more democratic approach. Liked the sound of the specials but sadly so bad all those before us - none left!

Today was not indicative of the normal five star experience we have enjoyed so many times. Negroni cocktail was virtually tasteless as it had been watered down with too much ice before being put in a glass with an iceberg in!! Lots of pomp and ceremony but forgetful waiter…who was very pleasant but our guest ordered a side of fries that didn’t arrive despite being prompted until he had almost eaten his meal. Roast Beef was superbly cooked but meal was only just warm. Great desserts!! We were taking friends out to celebrate a 50th birthday, so we chose not to complain because we didn’t want to make them feel uncomfortable. So, overall on this visit Chapter One let itself down. Shame, because it is normally amazing!

Service excellent but for nearly sixty pound per head it should be. Wine was very good for the price although you could pay silly money. Overall we would certainly return for a special occasion.

Very poor pasta meal - unpleasant flavour to the sauce and chewy pasta. The worst food I have ever eaten at Chapter One and the first time I have ever left food on my plate. As a regular and usually very satisfied customer it was a meal to forget. Left Chapter One extremely dissatisfied and disappointed after looking forward to our lunch.

Only reason it didn’t get all 5 stars was because there was only 1 gluten free dessert on the menu but when it came to if they had an additional one. I could have chosen my 1st choice starter and main from the a la carte menu rather than lunch menu if I had known beforehand.

We came to celebrate my mum’s 70th birthday and we had a wonderful time. We were made to feel very welcome and the service and food was impeccable. Highly highly recommend.
