Cecconi’s Mayfair has historically been a great place for high quality Italian food with fantastic service, but we had an exceptionally average experience at 5:00pm on 15-11-24.
Where we arrived on time for our 4:45pm dinner reservation, we were asked to wait for 15 minutes due to previous customers not leaving. Once seated, we waited 10 minutes before being approached by our server.
After finally ordering, our starters arrived but there were no place settings or seasonings on the table - something the servers had overlooked.
As we waited for our entrees the restaurant emptied and was only half full, with the exception of the loud drinkers at the crowded bar that made dining annoying.
After some time, our waiter informed us that one of the entrees had been incorrectly made and was being redone. I asked to be served what was ready, and was delivered a lukewarm plate of ravioli and a delicious veal milanese. The missing cacio e pepe pasta arrived 5 minutes later - very undercooked and in a cold alfreddo sauce.
I realize we dined at the start of the holiday season, but our evening was not up to traditional Cecconi’s standards.
