Our booking was at 7.30 on 17.9.24. When we arrived there at 7.32pm, there were a group of people by the reception waiting to be welcomed. We joined them. There was nobody at the reception. I asked a passing waiter what was going on and he said we would be attended to. A few minutes later a young woman, receptionist arrived. I told her we had a booking at 7.30. She found the booking and asked us to wait so that they could prepare the table. Our table for 2 was by the window. Although other tables had tablecloths, ours did not have any. I asked the receptionist why we did not have a tablecloth and she said: "Because this is a marble table!" We were given menus but not a cocktail menu for which we had to ask. We sat down and immediately we both noticed that the Marble was dirty with sticky stains from previous occupants. We did not complain. The restaurant was so noisy that it was almost impossible to hold a conversation. My friend developed a headache.
Our waiter was a very pleasant Italian man, called Donatello. He took the order. However, he brought our starter and the cocktails at the same time without giving us time to enjoy our cocktails. Cecconi's used to be a good restaurant. I will not go back and will not recommend it either. The starter, calamari was rubbery but the main course of salmon and the sorbet were good.
