I was hesitant to try this restaurant after walking by it for a year as it looked corporate and expensive. But the food pictures looked good online so we gave it a try and had a great experience. It is a cavernous space that’s my only complaint but we sat at the bar which was very comfortable. There were several large loud parties but we had no trouble conversing together and with the knowledgeable and friendly bar staff. Alan was terrific. The food way exceeded my expectations for such a large restaurant and the ability to order a small portion of pasta added to the value. The wine was delicious, the salad perfectly dressed and both our pastas were flavorful without being overly sauced. The house made fig ice cream was very good. Free bread would have been nice. I will look forward to trying more on the menu.

Overall the experience was okay. I liked the ambiance of the room. The food however was just okay. We had tempura squash rings that didn’t really taste like Japanese tempura. The foccacia lacked the buttery, crispy crust. My duck salad was a healthy portion and mostly good, but the duck tasted strange to me, almost fishy, so I pushed it aside. The salmon and black coconut rice dish my daughter ordered had promise, but I thought the preparation was too rich and the sauce cloying. My husband’s burger was pretty good (although he thought it lacked flavor) but the fries were nothing special; not soggy, but also not very crispy. The server was professional and perfectly adequate. Overall, it was a meh experience. I wouldn’t recommend it.

This is such an outstanding restaurant! I always recommend it to friends in the area. Friendly staff, gorgeous decor, and absolutely delicious food with seasonal menus. Good choices for a variety of diets and the cocktails and desserts are incredible. Save room! They also have private event spaces which is pretty hard to find in Boston so it’s a great option for meetings or rehearsal dinners or weddings.

This place never disappoints. The food is simply inspired, and the cocktails are works of art. I've been here for intimate dinners with friends and celebrations and it is always a wonderful experience. Highly recommend if you have never been!

Very disappointing, the restaurant said on Open Table it was open for lunch, drove 20 mins to get to it only to be not greeted by anyone for 15 mins. Then they said only the Bar menu was available at that time. Then order items off the bad menu only to be told some items weren’t available. When the food did arrive everything was very bland. Very disappointing experience overall. I suggest calling the restaurant before if you’re an out of towner visiting Boston.

I’m sorry that there was a delay in greeting you—that’s certainly something we will address with our team. Our lunch service ends at 2:30 PM, and from then until 5:00 PM, we offer a limited bar menu. I regret that the dishes did not meet your expectations and that not all of the offerings were available that day. This was a first visit and very satisfying. Attractive setting. High ceilings allowing for easy conversation. Excellent lunch menu. Wait staff knowledgeable about food and wines. Very attentive. Costs moderate. Parking compted. Will definitely return to try dinner.

I'd heard about Catalyst, but I'd never been. I went last week for the first time to celebrate my daughter's 27th birthday, in part because it was conveniently located for all parties. We had an amazing lunch. All of the dishes were outstanding, and the Catalyst team created an amazing experience. We will be back!

We couldn’t have enjoyed our experience any more. From being Welcomed warmly, thru our Culinary and Service Experiences ~ it was a fabulous and delicious evening for my Guests and Me !
