Food was really tasty, but the short rib was disappointing, restaurant was loud, and wasn’t quite the ambiance we expected.

I'm celiac and my wife is a vegetarian, and Canoe was able to modify their tasting menu to accommodate us both. They even called me a day ahead of our reservation to confirm that they could accommodate us, and ask if the fryer is OK for me (not if it's a shared fryer!). The onion soup served in an actual onion was a pleasant surprise, delicious and creatively plated. The cornbread was absolutely amazing. I don't generally have high expectations of gluten-free bread but my wife tried a piece and said it was better than the gluten option. The morel mushrooms in multiple courses stole the show. The tuna and lamb were good, but the peas and the whipped feta both had somewhat overpowering flavours. I was looking at my wife's mushroom risotto with envy! The marigold desert was beautiful. The tasting menu is a "do it once for the experience" thing, but I'm glad we did!

We had a special night at Canoe. It was a proposal dinner, and they went out of their way to make it a night to remember. I had dropped off a bouquet of flowers earlier in the day, and they brought it out with dessert and champagne. Our server was wonderful and helped guide us through the meal, and helped us with our wine choice. We had the tasting menu, which was a delightful 7 course meal, with everything from blackened oysters to crab bisque, to lamb. Presentation of the food was high-art. The textures and contrasting flavours shone through, all complementing each-other. This was our second time at Canoe. We had been there once before about half a year ago, and based on that previous experience, I felt assured that we would be in good hands for such a special night.

My husband and I came here whilst visiting from California, on recommendation from a local friend. View is spectacular, food was excellent— farm-to-table fresh and beautiful— friendly, great service. Highly recommend.
