The four-diamond Cannery Restaurant of today is reminiscent of its former life as a canning factory in the 1800s, where Niagara peaches and tomatoes were canned until 1957. Its agricultural past has been lovingly retained in its décor of rough hewn wooden beams, rich red brick walls and a hearth at the heart of the restaurant. Chef Mark Longster continues to serve up the best of the region in his menus which feature the freshest local produce and fine wines. Charming and casual Cannery Restaurant is the place to find all your favorites, from succulent steaks to catch of the day to a fabulous Sunday brunch. The restaurant was beautiful and perfect atmosphere. David our waiter went above and beyond to take care of everything and make sure our evening was perfect.

Value for these wonderful meals is excellent. You will not leave hungry albeit It is quite a bit more food than we usually eat at a seating.

Upon arrival I had a need to visit a restroom and found one in the main lobby. It was 'disgusting" with a urinal out of order and a sink out of order; fortunately the toilet was working. Don't get me wrong BUT I had a few issues with "the Cannery". We were seated promptly on arrival but while we were assured by our server that she would be with us shortly. Shortly lasted near 20 minutes before we even ordered wine, which then took another 10 minutes before it arrived. While I understand that conversation with patrons is part of the job / game, our 20 minute wait was taken up with lengthy conversation with other tables she was serving. For a fine dinning establishment I would expect more individual attention. Once we were in line for service, it was OK. Our orders arrived together , hot, and as ordered. My wife's short ribs were very good but my rib eye steak was very very salty. As we just sat and finished our wine the rest of the evening was uneventful. We both have decided that we doubt that we will revisit this place.

What a lovely restaurant that we continue to enjoy throughout the years. The food is always fantastic! Our waiter (Dave) took the time to get to know us and together we all shared our own stories/memories of Niagara on the Lake. It was truly an all-around memorable evening.
