A Classic French Bistro in the heart of Edison Park has been a dream of Executive Chef and owner Joe Calabrese for several years. Joe was professionally trained at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America located in Hyde Park, New York. Before opening his other restaurant, Zia’s Trattoria (located one block west of Café Touché at 6699 N. Northwest Highway) in 1997, he was sharpening his professional – and knife – skills at several well-respected Chicago dining establishments including Ambria, Spiagia, Un Grand Cafe and the Park Hyatt. Joe lives in Park Ridge, a few short miles from the restaurants, so expet to see him in both restaurants assuring a quality experience for his customers. Great and unique savory food and service Noise level super high, interfering with enjoyment of food. Sad, because food well-prepared with many unique dishes well-seasoned, and great choice of wines. Service by waiters, bus personnel, and runners impeccable. But noise from patio (with loud band) and no carpets or sound-reduction ceiling or wall panels destroys the experience…

This is a wonderful place for brunch, lunch, or dinner. It has great weekday specials like half off bottles of wine and cocktails for $10. Today we were at brunch where our party of four had a nice $40 bottle of white Bordeaux, quiches, pasta carbonara, and eggs Brennan, a take of a New Orleans favorite. The portions were generous and the the price reasonable. The service was attentive but not overbearing. This is a great place.

We ate outdoors and it was pleasant in spite of the warm day. It was brunch time, but there were still some items that we could order. All of us ordered something different and were pleased with what we ordered. The portions are big. And we were able to get separate checks.

We went for lunch and it was a wonderful French experience. The atmosphere was set with the open windows and I felt like I was in France. We started with the baked goat cheese. It was bubbly hot and delish. Did I mention the bread? Baguette came out hot and great. I had a burger, maybe not the best choice for a French restaurant but cooked to perfection. I have a dairy issue so some of the items I was not able to order. Our server was so good at helping me order. I will go back.

We love dining here on Thursday nights for the live music. Very kid friendly and the staff is lovely!

We sat on the patio. It was windy and the paper table coverings were blowing around. The brunch menu had served delicious items.
