Bringing 1940s Paris to modern-day Edinburgh, Café St Honoré restaurant is a charming bistro serving up traditional French cuisine (with a few Scottish favourites thrown in) to a loyal clientele. Tucked away on a picturesque cobbled lane in the New Town, the cosy dining room at Café St Honore, with mirrored walls and black-and-white tiled floors, provides an atmospheric retreat. The team here are passionate about local, organic produce, so the menu changes daily. There are prix fixe menus on offer at lunch and dinner if you’re after a bargain, or just need an excuse to indulge in dessert. In the evening, a seasonal menu du jour is available alongside the full a la carte, which features dishes like roast pheasant with red cabbage and pancetta; Our warming Cafe St Honore Cassoulet; and vanilla crème brûlée. The wine list features some excellent French wines – a real treat for novices and connoisseurs alike.

We are offering a set 5-course tasting menu on the evening of Sunday 31st December. This menu is priced at £97-50 per head and as with all of our reservations, we are more than happy to cater for dietary requirements provided we are given plenty of advanced warning. We are taking reservations between 6pm-8pm and asking guests to vacate the restaurant by 11pm. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you and please do not hesitate to contact us with any further queries. All reservation are to be made with the restaurant by phone.

Just wow! On arrival the hostess was welcoming and friendly and considered where to seat us at a lovely table, and made us feel welcome straightaway. Then we ordered drinks and these were made straightaway. The Old Fashioned was excellent. Then the menu for food was amazing. Didn’t know what it would be before hand as it changes everyday Ordered and food was fantastic. I couldn’t say a single thing I would change. I cannot wait to go again next time I am in Edinburgh.

Food was average at best. Nice, sure, but certainly nothing special. The prices being charged are just completely silly, especially considering the food and wine were only fine. The staff are very friendly, seem happy enough and lovely to chat to but the service is so crazy slow. We sat at 6pm and ate our first course at 6.50pm. Considering there were literally 4 other people in the place (there were more staff than customers when we sat) there was no conceivable excuse for how long the wait for food was and how slow the service was. It’s not as though the basic dishes are anything elaborate that might take a while to plate. It was enjoyable enough but nothing I would recommend or hurry back for

Cozy place away from Edinburgh crowds. The menu rather limited but food was quite good. I went for the pork belly with red cabbage. A bit expensive for what they offer.

Excellent service from Vic and DELICIOUS food. Loved the steak with pepper corn sauce, highly recommend this excellent reataurant

The food was very average at best both in terms of taste/flavours and presentation. The starters were ok but for £15 per starter, I would have expected more - there was one small slice of toast to go with the gravlax. For the main, the pheasant was overdone, the sauce was thin and there was no colour on the plate to make it visually appealing - all of that for £34. On the upside, the wine was good as was the service. Disappointing experience.
