I’ve visited Café Routier several times over the past 15-20 years and the restaurant never disappoints. You’ll not go wrong ordering the Frites, fried oysters or Mussels, all 3 are amazing appetizers. My choice of entreé is almost always the “campstyle” grilled trout. It’s always prepared perfectly. Desserts are aleways fantastic too.

We loved it. Where so many New England restaurants don’t live up to their flavor and freshness anymore, this was delightful. The inside is fairly uninspiring from a decor standpoint, but the service was impeccable and the food outstanding with large portions.

We arrived slightly early for our 7 pm Friday night reservation and were seated promptly. Our server, Andrew was knowledgeable and cordial. The food, drinks, and wine selections are excellent. They divide the menu into 4 sections; their standards (always on the menu), seasonal (currently summer), regional/country (currently French Riviera), and small plates. You have the ability to mix and match from each menu, along with evening specials, both a delight and a conundrum.
