Cafe Cariccio, the region's only authentic Tuscan restaurant, has been a favorite dining destination in Albany for 30 years. The Cafe was voted Best Restaurant in the Capital District by Metroland Magazine for 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, and many times previously. Jim Rua and Franco Rua are proprietors.     Catering is available for small or large parties for pick up or for on premise events. Our menu is filled with our classics from our kitchen as well as the elaborate authentic Italian dishes that we serve at our Chef's Table.

Our Chef's Table, located on the second floor above the main restauant, can hold parties of 10-17 and is an intimate open kitchen concept room where the chef cooks in front of your guests. The room also features a private entrance and private bathrooms just for this room. Our private room has wireless internet, screens and private staff. Our rooms regularly host business events and speaker presentations as well as family event, birthdays, anniversaries as well as couples dinners with friends.

    The food was wonderful…we always love Cafe Capriccio. My only complaint is that we were served way quickly. We ordered cocktails, appetizers, dinner, dessert and coffee and were out the door within an hour. We traveled longer to get to Cafe Capriccio than it took us to dine. Our Saturday date night …too rushed.

    A top-notch overall experience! Would easily recommend and return next time in the city. Despite a busy night, there was a flow and rhythm to both the service and the excellently prepared and presented food. We had each of the specials and a standard and all were paired with complimentary accents that worked perfectly. There is real craft here. Excellent house baked breads and the desserts were true icing on the cake! Staff works very well together. We walked out so happy to have been there.

    Haven’t been in a few years and was another enjoyable dining experience. The duck, so tender and homemade wild mushroom ravioli’s were just delicious. Thank you!

    I recently dined at what is, without a doubt, the best and most authentic Italian restaurant in Albany. From the moment we sat down, the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. We started with a selection of appetizers that set the tone for the meal: the eggplant, perfectly tender and flavorful; the sausage with broccoli rabe special, which was a bold and savory delight; wood-fired meatballs that melted in your mouth; and a burrata salad that was so fresh and creamy. For our entrées, each dish was a masterpiece. The pork chop was perfectly seasoned and grilled to succulent perfection with a bacon jam, the ragu pasta with sausage was rich and comforting, the halibut was delicately prepared and paired beautifully with its accompaniments, and the Sorrento chicken—juicy and bursting with Mediterranean flavors—was an absolute standout. Every bite was a testament to the chef’s mastery of traditional Italian cuisine. From the atmosphere to the attentive service and, of course, the exceptional food, this is a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic Italian dining experience in Albany. Truly an unforgettable meal. I will be back soon!

    Touted by our hotel to be the best Italian in the area, we found it a very good choice for dinner with friends. The dining room was full and the waitstaff very busy. They were efficient and friendly. Our entrees, all four of us ordered pasta, were very good, tasty and of ample serving size. Two menu items we ordered , broccoli rabe and the torta for dessert were disappointingly not available. The wine list offered a range of varietals with some value bottles. Vegetarian friendly. The place was hopping on a Friday night-reservations are recommended.
