Situé à Capitol Hill, le Café Berlin sert une cuisine allemande authentique depuis 2985. Il occupe le rez-de-chaussée de trois maisons de ville dont les jardins à l'avant servent de Biergarten pour un repas en plein air. À l'intérieur, vous trouverez un petit bar ainsi que deux salles à manger confortables. Le restaurant est à quelques minutes à pied de la gare Union Station et du Capitole. Il attire des politiciens, des membres du congrès, des touristes, ainsi que de fidèles résidents du quartier. Les plats traditionnels sont concoctés de façon authentique avec une touche de légèreté, par des chefs expérimentés en cuisine allemande. Outre un menu régulier, le restaurant propose des menus changeant en saison, où figurent des asperges au printemps, des salades et des plats légers en été, des mets bavarois pendant l'Oktoberfest en automne ainsi que du gibier en hiver. Préparés sur place, les desserts incluent du strudel aux pommes, une forêt-noire ainsi que de savoureuses tourtes à la crème. Enfin, le bar vous fera découvrir une sélection de bières et de vins allemands.

One of our favorite Capital Hill restaurants. This time however - perhaps due to the Valentine overflow,- was overly crowded.

This is a great restaurant with an authentic taste of Germany with a cozy and inviting atmosphere. From the moment we stepped inside we were greeted with warm hospitality and a charming European-style ambiance that makes us feel welcome. The menu offers a good selection of traditional German dishes, from hearty bratwurst and schnitzel to delicious potato pancakes and freshly baked pretzels. The flavors are rich and authentic, and the ingredients taste fresh and high-quality. We tried the sauerkraut balle and the stroganoff were fantastic! Also, the selection of German beers and specialty drinks added to the experience, making it a great spot for dining. The service was friendly and attentive and ensured a great dining experience. Overall, Café Berlin brings the heart of Germany to DC. Whether you’re a fan of German cuisine or simply looking for a cozy spot with great food and atmosphere, this café is a must-visit.

Old inside, musty smell and tried to collect $10 more dollars for restaurant week lunch. When I sat down I was given the restaurant week menu with no price. The server made sure he commented the charge was $35. I immediately told her the website states $25. She said she would talk with the manager. When the bill came it was billed at $35. I pulled up their website and showed the server and asked for the manager. The manager never came but did take the $10 off. You always need to keep the restaurant week menu and price on your phone. This overcharge has happened to me before at other restaurants.

I always have the Wurstfeast with sauerkraut and Mac & cheese. If you are a German sausage lover like me, this is the greatest. I lived in Germany for two years and Cafe Berlin makes me feel like I’m back there

We had a great meal -- it had been awhile since we had eaten there and the food was really delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Seasonally inspired and reflected authentic German cuisine. Really lovely hospitality, too.
