Welcome to a taste of history!

Denver’s original steakhouse, The Buckhorn Exchange is located in the city’s oldest neighborhood, just 5-minutes from downtown Denver -- with a light-rail stop right across the street. This National Historic Landmark and Western Museum has been serving the finest in Old West fare since 1893.

Prime grade beef steaks, buffalo prime rib, elk, salmon, quail, game hen, and succulent baby-back pork ribs are just some of the marvelous offerings on the Buckhorn menu. Exotic appetizers such as alligator tail and buffalo sausage are available, and no dinner is complete without the house specialty, Rocky Mountain Oysters.

For lunch we serve up a lighter fare including our renowned Grandma Fanny’s pot roast sandwich, enormous beef and buffalo burgers and more!

The Big Steak

Steak Dinner Our Specialty There is an old sign on the north side of the building that says 'Steak Dinners Our Specialty.' The same legend was also found on old menus and newspaper advertising. In keeping with this tradition, the Buckhorn Exchange offers large-portion steaks, intended for two to five guests. The steaks are cut from our New York strip loins, with the tail removed and all but a very thin layer of the fat cover. Cooked large like this, a lovely crust is formed and most agree that is the only thing better than our steaks that are cooked for one. Your steak is carved tableside and served with a sizzling crock of sautéed mushrooms and onions. Of course, soup or salad and side dish are included as with all our dinners. Additional cooking time is required

A unique and enjoyable experience! We went there for the bison and elk primarily. We had the beef filet mignon too. All were prepared perfectly to our recommendations and were delicious! The wait staff were exceptional and very accommodating! It is worth the time to take a tour of the restaurant too!

Service and ambience were great. Food was cold and the fried apps were eh. Definitely a tourist trap

A fine meal ruined by horrible service and a server that never did bring our coffee, then told us we had to leaved because other guests were waiting.

Part old west museum, part fine dining; I was so incredibly happy we found this restaurant; we had an amazing meal and saw so many incredible Americana artefacts; this place is a “must see” if in Denver. Our server, Nadine, was also a highlight; so helpful and cheerful; she was a breath of fresh air who truly made our night extra special.

Really cool restaurant with a great history and ambience. Wait staff was amazing and took really good care of us. Food was pricey and above average the apple pie dessert is worth the whole visit!

Upstairs was quieter, which we liked. The chocolate loving spoonful dessert was outstanding!

Couldn't hear the waitress. Took a long time to get our food. Waitress forgot our appetizer but brought it during finner when we asked. We were told we had to be there at our dinner res time. We weren't seated for 30 min. And we sat at the bar while we waited. Didn't get waited on st tgr bar for 29 min though bar staff appeared to be available. Since there are so many historic items in the building though, it was worth seeing the place.
