Welcome to a taste of history!

Denver’s original steakhouse, The Buckhorn Exchange is located in the city’s oldest neighborhood, just 5-minutes from downtown Denver -- with a light-rail stop right across the street. This National Historic Landmark and Western Museum has been serving the finest in Old West fare since 1893.

Prime grade beef steaks, buffalo prime rib, elk, salmon, quail, game hen, and succulent baby-back pork ribs are just some of the marvelous offerings on the Buckhorn menu. Exotic appetizers such as alligator tail and buffalo sausage are available, and no dinner is complete without the house specialty, Rocky Mountain Oysters.

For lunch we serve up a lighter fare including our renowned Grandma Fanny’s pot roast sandwich, enormous beef and buffalo burgers and more!

The Big Steak

Steak Dinner Our Specialty There is an old sign on the north side of the building that says 'Steak Dinners Our Specialty.' The same legend was also found on old menus and newspaper advertising. In keeping with this tradition, the Buckhorn Exchange offers large-portion steaks, intended for two to five guests. The steaks are cut from our New York strip loins, with the tail removed and all but a very thin layer of the fat cover. Cooked large like this, a lovely crust is formed and most agree that is the only thing better than our steaks that are cooked for one. Your steak is carved tableside and served with a sizzling crock of sautéed mushrooms and onions. Of course, soup or salad and side dish are included as with all our dinners. Additional cooking time is required

More than a bit over priced for the meal size. That was disappointing. Our waitress was awesome... the bartender was amazing. Overall it was a good experience.

We drove to Denver to celebrate a special birthday. We arrived a little early but were seated right away. The atmosphere was certainly reserved, but frankly, with no music playing, it was excellent for conversation. The service and food were well worth the price of the meal. Everything was cooked exactly as ordered and was outstanding! The inside may not be to everyone's liking with all of the game and historic memorabilia - but the service and food are well worth seeking out.

Staff was super friendly. Food was very tasty and definitely a good cost!! Definitely recommend to anyone visiting the Denver area!!

We loved the bartenders on the upper level. Great experience. Service after seated with our reservation was rather slow and we were brought the wrong bottle of wine and dinners. They did correct their mistakes. The restaurant had a lot of history and we enjoyed looking at all the animal mounts and nostalgia. Enjoyed trying elk and buffalo.

Sides weren’t very tasty. The bread tasted store bought roles. The buffalo prime rib was good, but would have liked it cooked closer to medium vs rare.

Awesome experience. Unique items available to order. Nadia was an amazing waitress. Only reason not a 5 star for food was that the NY Strip did not come out rare hut was extremely tasty which still warrants a 5 star review.
