One of the first chefs at The Algonquin, in the late 1800s, was the brilliant and respected G.F. Braxton. His philosophy of providing uncompromising quality in an elegant but casual environment continues to inspire us to this day.

Centrally-located in the main building of The Algonquin, Braxton’s is a place to gather. Here, families discover old favourites, the adventurous try something new, and friends meet for drinks. With a warm, friendly, but elegant atmosphere, everyone feels relaxed, whether for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The menu changes seasonally, but expect a commitment to fresh ingredients, an emphasis on local, and brilliant attention to detail. This is certainly not your average dining experience.

Fine cuisine, fresh ingredients, meat cooked to perfection. Unfortunately, no non-alcoholic wine (whereas at least one smaller, other high-end place in St. Andrews carries it)

Sadly this was one of the least favourite experiences at Braxton’s. There was a lack of communication and although the food was good the experience could’ve been better.

Excellent service. We attended Easter Brunch which was very nice. A great selection to choose from. A great value as well.

Lovely meal, great atmosphere. Only comnent would be some of the food offerings were barely warm Enjoyed our brunch with our friends

Dinner was delicious and the service was great. My son wanted his steak cooked just a bit more and the waiter was happy to take care of it.

The food was ok, but my husband's steak was not cooked properly and needed to be refired. The waiter asked us if it should get refired or if he wanted a new one, which was not professional. The waiter also forgot about us during our meal and we waited for an hour before we decided to take the cheque and leave. We were not offered any refills or a dessert menu. Very disappointed with the service and unlikely to return.

With it being the Algonquin we expected more. Server was friendly and accommodating with dietary restrictions. Food was overpriced for what we got.

Went for Valentine's Day. Looked forward to the absolutely spectacular mussels we had in May of this year. Very disappointed. They were small, and the recipe was also disappointing. I had to send it back, which is not something I like to do. The waiter and manager were very understanding and apologetic. I ordered the Japanese chicken appetizer, which was very tasty and fun. Overall, the atmosphere was good, decorated for the occasion, and service was very friendly, fun, and quick. We will definitely go back as we are locals, but please bring back your other mussell recipe!! I guess it wasn't the time of year for mussels. They were the smallest I ever had, so not good value for money. Many were closed or not able to eat either. The restaurant does need a bit of a refresh and cleaning too to keep up with the prices they ask.
