Fine dining has brought Boone Tavern much of its international acclaim. Whether you prefer traditional or creative southern cuisine, you will find palate pleasing fare in Boone Tavern’s Dining Room. The Duncan Hines Excellence in Hospitality Award was presented to Boone Tavern in 2003. The prestigious award is named for restaurant critic Duncan Hines. The Kentucky Tourism Council states, “Boone Tavern has been a hallmark in the hospitality business for nearly a century. After all these years, it continues to be a favorite destination.”
Lunch offerings let you choose from a variety of salads, unique sandwiches and hot entrées. Evening meals offer an array of delightful appetizers, salads, classic entrées and desserts. Historical favorites like “Chicken Flakes in a Bird’s Nest” and “spoonbread” are fixtures in the restaurant. Sunday Brunch is another tradition. Dining room attire is tastefully casual.

    Amazing teamwork here with service. Our server was amazing. Jered was so kind and extremely attentive to us. Our experience was top notch and food was delicious.

    Perhaps one of the worst dining experiences we have ever had. One positive was the salad, I had the blue cheese and my husband had the regular salad. Both were fresh and big. We waited for 20 minutes for a drink and then it was wrong. They fixed it, but 20 minutes later. My husband had the salmon, so overcooked he had one bite and done. I had the scallops, they were buried in some cold slow mix, scallops were ok, but not great. We will never go back.

    Good food. Ky Hot Brown was good. Ham and Gruyère sandwich was good. Wilderness burger was good. Really good fries. Spoon bread was interesting.

    What a find! Very elegant ambience with stellar service by Jarred and the students from Berea College. Small but very well thought out menu of classics. The onion soup had a depth of flavor that showed it had been prepared low and slow, covered in poet gooey cheese goodness! The class were generously sized and the mint honey champagne vinaigrette was delightfully rich and herbaceous. The chicken flakes were an old-timely dish of finely shredded chicken in a thick veloute over a bed of creamy mashed potato served with crisp green beans and a tangy orange cranberry relish. The diver scallops were served with a nest of seasonal veggies, mostly summer squash and zucchini with carrots and peppers, perfectly seared. The cocktail list was interesting and there was an extensive list of Kentucky bourbons to chose from. A couple next to us had the blackberry smash and pronounced it refreshing and bright. We had one of the many cakes for dessert, a yellow cake with a buttery sauce dazzled with white chocolate. The chef did not balk at my allergy needs and honored the requests. The combo of the vintage inn and the vintage food was perfect and very enjoyable. Strong recommendation to make reservations and have dinner in this lovely throwback

    Traveling thru... They were very accommodating in every way, were seated promptly and the server was on point with everything and was johnny on the spot with the meal! She was very kind and helpful with the questions we asked of the area. My wife and I had a very good experience and highly recommend this stay and you got to eat here as well! Great time....

    Love this unique restaurant with a lovely ambiance, delicious southern gourmet dishes, and excellent service. The price is reasonable considering the quality of food with delicious and very fresh ingredients . The vegetables in my “house” salad were all so fresh and tasty I could have enjoyed it without dressing, but that was delicious too! One of our favorite restuarants!

    Absolutely stunning! Salads and french onion soups were marvelous - diver scallops were amazing! I’d suggest a pass on the smoked trout cakes,, however.

    Not busy on a Saturday night, service started out slow, but once the food came through, it was excellent and worth the wait. The spoonbread was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, the peach Bellini strong and sweet, and the brown butter cake rich and memorable. The salmon was good, the pea risotto exceptional—crispy somehow, but I loved it—but the vegetable medley was bland and didn’t feel like it was part of the dish. We were comped dessert to make up for the slow start, which was a nice way to finish the evening. Well worth the drive from Lexington.
