Fine dining has brought Boone Tavern much of its international acclaim. Whether you prefer traditional or creative southern cuisine, you will find palate pleasing fare in Boone Tavern’s Dining Room. The Duncan Hines Excellence in Hospitality Award was presented to Boone Tavern in 2003. The prestigious award is named for restaurant critic Duncan Hines. The Kentucky Tourism Council states, “Boone Tavern has been a hallmark in the hospitality business for nearly a century. After all these years, it continues to be a favorite destination.”
Lunch offerings let you choose from a variety of salads, unique sandwiches and hot entrées. Evening meals offer an array of delightful appetizers, salads, classic entrées and desserts. Historical favorites like “Chicken Flakes in a Bird’s Nest” and “spoonbread” are fixtures in the restaurant. Sunday Brunch is another tradition. Dining room attire is tastefully casual.

    Love this unique restaurant with a lovely ambiance, delicious southern gourmet dishes, and excellent service. The price is reasonable considering the quality of food with delicious and very fresh ingredients . The vegetables in my “house” salad were all so fresh and tasty I could have enjoyed it without dressing, but that was delicious too! One of our favorite restuarants!

    Absolutely stunning! Salads and french onion soups were marvelous - diver scallops were amazing! I’d suggest a pass on the smoked trout cakes,, however.

    Not busy on a Saturday night, service started out slow, but once the food came through, it was excellent and worth the wait. The spoonbread was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, the peach Bellini strong and sweet, and the brown butter cake rich and memorable. The salmon was good, the pea risotto exceptional—crispy somehow, but I loved it—but the vegetable medley was bland and didn’t feel like it was part of the dish. We were comped dessert to make up for the slow start, which was a nice way to finish the evening. Well worth the drive from Lexington.

    While overpriced and small portion size, the food was average . Our waitress was very slow and didn’t provide very good service. It took a very long time for him to do anything and he seemed disorganized and distracted. Wasn’t impressed with the service.

    Food was excellent. Good portion sizes. Staff was great. Jared was our server and he did an excellent job. No complaints about anything.

    The food was very good. We both had the Chicken Saltimbocca. The portion was a little on the small side, but it was delicious. I told my wife now don't expect this as the Italian dish we know and love. This way you will not be disappointed. We had the Onion Soup outstanding it was. We go here pretty often. It is quite a nice place, and you will never be disappointed with the quality of food, service or ambiance. We both had a salad which was terrific as well.

    The ambiance and amazing food were to be remembered. The service? Dear God! First of all, she didn't want to be there. Who brings a bottle of wine, opens it, does NOT offer a tasting, then poured a glass FULL for each of us, put the cork back in, plopped the bottle onto the table - no chiller - and walked off. Then...........salads were gorgeous and delicious. Literally, less than half our salads later, here she came with dinner!!!!!! My husband looked at her like she had four eyes, and said, "Could you please put those in the warmer until we finish?" We LOVE the Historic Boone Tavern, but the meal service was horrific.
