    Restaurant was beautiful. Server was friendly. Food portion was good. Ordered curry prawns, seafood chowder, Moroccan halibut and seafood pasta. Taste was great. Overall, it was a nice night out.

    I had requested a view/windows table on the patio by the windows when booking my reservation as I had guests from Ontario. This was not mentioned nor honoured and when I asked, the hostess seemed to have no idea what I was talking about and that section had been filled.

    Table server was a highlight. Oyster presentation a little...simple? But they were good.

    The menu has changed and not for the better. Mussels were overcooked and tiny, calamari was a large portion but each piece was so small, it was mostly breading and very little squid. Chowder was great as always.

    The beer menu should have local beers from the area. As there are approximately 8 local breweries within walking steps, not 1 was on the menu. Poor menu choices!!!!!

    For the restaurant that charges quite high prices it was strange not to have coasters for the drinks ( our napkins got wet almost immediately), our glasses for water were the smallest we have ever seen and the waitress informed us that they don’t have water pitchers. We just had lunch at the boathouse in white rock a week ago and the glasses were of normal size and the water pitcher was brought to the table ( so this is not the branding rather location issue ). Yesterday all the food except salmon was so heavy on salt ( even rice and roasted veggies) that we had to make a note to the waitress . We drove to this location for a special dinner and were a bit disappointed. It was not our first time at this restaurant, and we were not impressed by all these small details.

    The atmosphere was awesome however I won’t recommend to anyone. The food portion was small, especially the seafood tower. The lobster tail was spongy, not fresh at all. Oyster and mussel were tiny.What’s worst was, all food came to the table almost at the same time. The table was full and we couldn’t enjoy the dinner one by one. The food was cold. A bit disappointing. It was a birthday celebration for my husband. I remarked it when I made the reservation online and reconfirmed again with a phone call. It was expecting to have a complementary desert to surprise my husband but turned out nothing at the end. It made me very disappointed and upset. I am totally regretted to choose this restaurant to celebrate my husband’s birthday. After the dinner, I went to the disabled washroom with my little girls for more space. It was totally disgusting. The floor was wet, hand towel paper and toilet paper were on the floor. It was even worst than a public washroom at the park. I was not willing to pay the tips at all but still paid a bit. I cried out after the dinner and tried to find out the email address to express my feelings after the dinner. I then found out the cost of the kids meal should be $0.99 during Sep 2-30. Why the server still charged me $14.50?? I was a bit angry about this.

    Great ambience, good service. However some vegetarian options could be added in the menu. While I understand this is essentially for seafood lovers, some of us who are vegetarian often go with a group and it is very disappointing that only salads are an option. The pasta option that the server described (not on the menu) was quite bland. As the trend grows rapidly for people to choose vegan and vegetarian food, and many high end restaurants have adapted their menu, Boathouse seemed to have lagged behind.
