Depuis 1746, le même bâtiment qui accueille la taverne Black Powder Tavern a joué un rôle dans la création de la nation. Il servait d'abord de lieu de repos pour les voyageurs en diligence qui rejoignaient l'Ouest, avant de devenir un endroit de rendez-vous clandestin pour George Washington, le marquis de La Fayette et d'autres héros de la révolution américaine. Le bruit court que durant le terrible hiver de 1777-1778, à Valley Forge, le stratège militaire Friedrich Von Steuben, une figure majeure de l'armée continentale, avait choisi la taverne comme cache secrète pour les munitions de poudre noire des messagers de l'Armée continentale. À cette époque, la taverne continuait de fournir la nourriture, l'abri et la joie de vivre aux soldats fatigués et affamés qui luttaient pour leur indépendance. Aujourd'hui, la tradition historique de la taverne continue d'être honorée avec pour mission de réjouir les clients. Returned to an “old” favorite with my daughter and puppy to sit outside and have a quick lunch. Service was great and food was delicious. Enjoyed the Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, Thai salad and chicken caesar salad. All were excellent. Look forward to returning soon.

BlackPowder is always our "go to" place. I have never given a bad review to the BlackPowder, but Saturday was not good. We arrived at 2:45 p.m. and maybe there was 3 tables filled at that time. Our server gave us "the rush". We brought our severely autistic son and I asked if BlackPowder had fruit (we have gotten fruit before at BP). She said "No all we have is vegetables" I said "but you have brunch tomorrow you don't have any fruit and she said "no". She didn't check it out. Then we had just started drinking our ice teas and she comes back and says "do you want more ice tea". Well eventually we would have so we said yes and she took the glasses away. The asparagus we ordered for our son, was all shriveled and we were charged $7.00. The food was still pretty good, not your best, but good. Then we had to deal with flies, first they were bugging our table and then they went over to another table. No manager to be seen to get help. We ordered, ate, paid our bill and were back out in our car by 3:28 p.m. We don't get to go out a lot because of taking care of our son. We carefully picked a time that it would be "light" in the restaurant to bring him. And sadly neither my husband or I enjoyed ourselves. Your hostess was very sweet.

Father’s Day Brunch Made reservations several days in advance but was seated in the bar. Bartender/ waitress was nice but busy. Took our drink order then brunch items. 1 hour and 10 mins later I had to ask what was going on since we hadn’t received our meal yet. She said something about kitchen failure. (?) And the manager was on it. 10 mins later, food arrived cold but on hot plates. The manager never came to apologize or to offer a drink or dessert just stayed away from our table. Was a terrible disappointment.

Good food options for Father's Day. The server was attentive. It took a while for the food to be prepped, but understandable due to father's day.

Always a great place. The food as always is the star. The short ribs were fantastic as was the pot pie. You can’t go wrong with either.
