Décoré dans le style d'un bistrot parisien des années 1930, le Biff's Bistro est le chef d'œuvre haut de gamme des über-restaurateurs Peter Oliver et Michael Bonacini, de Toronto. Le salon élégant, doté d'un superbe comptoir en zinc, est une pure merveille de design rétro. Les banquettes en cuir, les boiseries chaleureuses et les grands miroirs dégagent une atmosphère somptueuse et animée. Dans ce cadre, le chef Amanda Ray présente un menu de cuisine de bistrot française, accompagné d'une impressionnante carte des vins. Le restaurant est implanté au cœur du centre-ville, à quelques pas de nombreux théâtres et hôtels ainsi que du centre Air Canada.

Though everyone was nice, the service was extremely slow and it was even hard to get the attention of the staff as they seemed scattered.

We had a wonderful dinner with great friends. The pace was perfect for catching up. The atmosphere was cosy. Amazing mushrooms risotto with crispy mushrooms. Others at our table enjoyed the duck, liver and onions and steak tartare.

Overall I generally enjoy Biff’s for a quick French inspired dining experience close to home when I can’t get uptown … usually steak frites is what I crave here. This evening I made reservations to give a good friend a much needed break from her thesis work. We dined early, the restaurant only 1/4 full, and were seated in ‘the enchanted grotto’ (if you’re a fan of Frasier you’ll understand this refers to an undesirable ill positioned table, in this case right by the corridor leading to the well trafficked water-closets) I let this pass as I didn’t think my friend had notice and as we weren’t going to linger. I opted to give her the seat that put the corridor to her back, out of her line of sight, before she could notice that we were seated by the toilets. Our pleasant young waiter attended to us and we placed our orders. my friend chose the liver. Through the evening the table adjacent to us was offered to 2 parties of 4, each party declined the table due to its ‘enchanted’ location and there being many empty tables options. What was more unfortunate this evening was the preparation of the liver. At first my friend was quite pleased with the seasoning and cook of it but after two pieces she struggled to cut it, it had not been deveined. It turned quickly into a massacre on her plate as she struggled mightily to saw off another piece at which point our waiter came to our rescue offering to replace the order. We weren’t able to explain to him why the liver had become unpalatable so the second plate had the same challenge, thankfully this time a sharper steak knife was provided. The restaurant graciously offered us complimentary desserts at the end of our meal which was appreciated. Though this wasn’t the best dining experience, atypical for Biff’s, this restaurant remains on my ‘go to’ list.

Amazing french food on a sunny patio ! Perfect spot for a Friday lunch with a friend ;) I hadn’t been since the reno and the new space is great ! While there is construction next door - there was no work being done today. I was surprised it wan’t busier as it’s always reliable in terms of yummy food and good service at a reasonable price. More people should check it out as it is only a short walk down from all the office buildings and union - with less traffic.

Absolutely love the new BFFs and the patio, including the accessible entrance. We chose a very busy night and they handled their tables flawlessly. Two things that I noticed was the very loud music that is definitely not what I thought was part of Biffs style. Secondly they don’t have their frites anymore! Bring back the frites and salad Nicoise. Overall keep up the great job.

I’ve been twice now since reopening in the new space. The service just isn’t good, lacks coordination.

Food was good, service (particularly drinks) was very slow. The music was loud and a continuous loop of non-distinct synthetic music. I’ve had amazing meals previously at Biff’s, but this wasn’t one of them, I’m afraid.
