Basilico Restaurant, located in Millburn, New Jersey was established by owner Mario De Marco , formerly of Sergio's, also in Millburn. Graduate of the Hotel Management School in Alassio, Italy. From Italy, he brought his original and authentic Italian cuisine to Millburn.

Basilico has a definite New York look and feel, which reflects in our food items. We use the best of ingredients. "Casual and chic" is how we have been described by reviewers. The atmosphere is warm, comfortable and energetic. Our goal is to maintain the highest level of hospitality, remembering that you are the guest, and it is our ultimate goal for you to leave thoroughly satisfied. Special requests can be accommodated.

What a truly delicious dinner we enjoyed at Basilico. Great service, too! And the raspberry soufflé was 🧑‍🍳 chef’s kiss! Can’t wait to return!

Excellent overall experience. Highlight was the food -appetizer,entree and dessert were first rate. Service was competent and friendly. Ambiance was subdued,in a good way. Highly recommend!

Service and food excellent! Wonderful menu, excellent options. Seafood, pasta, veal chicken. Would highly recommend, walking distance from the Papermill.

Arrived at Basilico at 5:30pm and asked our waiter if he foresaw any problem with our being able to leave by 7:00 for a show. He said no problem. We ordered one appetizer (calamari) for the table, which came almost immediately, and 4 entrees. The marinara for the calamari was cold. Not lukewarm but cold. A bread basket was brought to the table and the bread was ice cold as if it had just been taken out of the freezer and thawed but not fully. At 6:30 and no sign of our waiter we asked the manager when we could expect our meals. They were delivered within 5 minutes. The two shrimp dishes were good but the manicotti was burnt on the bottom and the gnocchi was mediocre. We ate as quickly as we could so we could leave by 7:00 but any chance of a leisurely dinner was gone. This appears to be a very busy restaurant with a large local clientele. Not sure why our experience was so disappointing but we will not be back.

My wife cace e Pepe was mediocre at best and not cooked sufficiently to be considered Al dente. Cheese sat on top of the pasta - not infused. I had veal chop parm. It’s my favorite dish but this version was awful. The veal was not pounded and not a very good cut. It tasted fatty. Again, I prefer my pasta al dente; this was closer to uncooked it was so hard. We’ve eaten at Basilico a number of times but not in the last year or two. New chef ? New owner ? Terribly disappointed.

We went before a show and the restaurant filled up quickly. I had their soup special, pumpkin with asparagus which was delicious. But my Entree was even more fabulous. I ordered the Spaghetini Arrabiato and I’m still regretting that I couldn’t finish it! It was so delicious. The restaurant is BYOB which we didn’t know. But we were able to walk less than a block and pick up a bottle of wine. I would completely recommend this place.

Charming restaurant with good food, service and location. Great place for dinner before going to the Paper Mill Playhouse.
