Charming restaurant with excellent service. The pasta with Bolognese sauce, lasagna and the rigatoni with pesto was excellent!

Good food. Friendly service. The rating here is a result of service after the entree. After we finished out entree we probably waited 30 min to order dessert and finally gave up and had to go to the front to request our bill. We fell into that invisibility hole diners fall into at some places where you are invisible to them for a long time. Too bad and it started to make my husband super cranky. We will go back because the food was fresh and tasty, but not on a busy night. Oh — $28 for a for a glass of so-so red wine when it was barely 2 oz. Not a generous pour. I won’t do that again there.

Poor quality of food, most restaurants in Carmel far exceed this one. The meal genuinely looked like something I would make on a Tuesday night after going to Ralph’s, and was EXTREMELY overpriced. Staff was quite rude (and I’m from LA so that’s saying something).

We had a wonderful meal. The Vegan Vegetable Plate is one of the best meals I have had in a restaurant. The flavors were so varied and wonderful. We brought our dog and she enjoy her meal as well. The service was attentive, not rushed but kept pace. The cocktail and wine menu was also very good. They have done their best to create a patio and we really appreciated the heaters. We will return!

The place doesn’t look that clean, the server was aggressive in getting our order right away, and the food is so mid.

Another wonderful dinner at Basil. As the sun set in Carmel, the staff kindly turned on the heaters to make our outside table comfy. Great recommendations for wine to accompany our main dishes. All delicious from starting salad to Affogato. Thank you.

Basil is not a run in grab a pizza and leave place. For that try Pizza Hut. Basil is a wonderful place to enjoy a leisurely meal with friends and family. Excellent food, full service bar and outstanding service. Last night, dinner for four, we enjoyed cocktails, appetizers, and amazing pasta. Our host, Denis, was friendly, easy to talk to and very helpful. We never felt rushed. Overall, Basil is one of my favorite restaurants for a full service five star meal. If you go be prepared to take your time and fully enjoy this wonderful gem.

The owner had almost all of his tables show up simultaneously on a rainy night. He got everyone seated and proceeded to give everyone great service. He is one of the hardest-working owners I have ever seen. Food is great and although we came for a quick dinner, we love it for lunch.

Basil came highly recommended by friends who live in Carmel. I think we may have hit an off night as the staff seemed to be rushed and distracted. I ordered one of the specials on the menu, and it seemed to have been thrown together in the kitchen. Of the four entrees we ordered, the lasagna seemed to be the best. We would definitely try Basil again; however, Friday night didn't seem to be the restaurant's best show.
