Célébrant sa 108ème année d'ouverture, le Barbetta Restaurant est le plus ancien restaurant de New York toujours détenu par la famille fondatrice. Le Barbetta est aussi le plus ancien restaurant italien de New York et le plus ancien du quartier des théâtres. Cette triple distinction lui a valu la récompense du Locali Storici d'Italia. Dans un intérieur brillant décoré avec des antiquités italiennes du XVIIIe siècle, le Barbetta sert une cuisine du Piémont, la région italienne le plus au nord-ouest. En été, son jardin incroyablement verdoyant avec ses arbres centenaires et parfumé de fleurs de glycines, de lauriers roses, de jasmin et de gardénia en font l'un des endroits les plus prisés pour les repas en plein air.

The Barbetta garden is a hidden gem in NYC. Food is traditional and delicious. Make sure to save room for dessert.

Food was mediocre. Clearly more for tourists than people who know and enjoy good food. It was obvious that our meal was previously made and warmed up. The service was polite but not warm or hospitable. But it was a pretty restaurant and had a good atmosphere.

What a fabulous find this restaurant was, and yet it's been at its restaurant row location for 118 years! The inside of the restaurant is nice, but sitting outside in the courtyard is a must do!! The courtyard has a vibe of a Parisian cafe...you literally forget that you are in bustling NYC. We had the most amazing service provided by our fabulous waiter, Raymond!! He made great food recommendations and made sure our every need was met. We really enjoyed talking with him, and he was kind enough to snap some photos for us as well. This is an ideal restaurant to dine at if you have Broadway show tickets. They have a wonderful fixed price pre-theater menu that includes an appetizer, entree and dessert for $63.00. I highly recommend the Garganelli pasta for an appetizer as it was homemade, delicious and a hearty portion. My sister had the beet salad and raved about that, if that's your thing. We decided to share our entrees, and Raymond was kind enough to do that and bring out separate plates with the portions already being split up. We had the salmon which was a little overcooked and not very flavorful, but the Fresh Jumbo Lump Crabmeat with wild rice in sherry was too die for and worth the 10.00 upcharge! Our desserts were ok, and if they hadn't been included in our meal, we might have skipped them. The fruit plate that we saw on another table looked amazing, so I think I would get that on my next visit. I love that this restaurant is still family owned as it has been for 118 years, and that is one more reason to visit here. If you are looking for a great pre-theater meal, this hidden gem restaurant is worth the visit...and be sure to make reservations!

The restaurant was wonderful. We sat in the garden which was delightful on a warm September evening. The table and bar service were incredible and elegant. The food was good but not as superior as the other elements. The restaurant has old world charm and elegance which is hard to find anywhere. I highly recommend this venue if you are attending the theater.

Birthday dinner in the garden patio was awesome. Everything was delicious, fresh, and well-prepared. Cocktails were generous. And they surprised me with birthday cake, complete with a candle, after dinner! It's unusual to find such a private-feeling, quiet space to have a lovely meal in NYC.

WOW! As foodies and regular theater goers, it's amazing that we've never heard of this restaurant before. We went after theater one night during restaurant week it was a great experience. We sat in one of the loveliest hidden gardens in NYC...The appetizer of Linguini al Pesto was delicious and big enough to share. The Crespelle Alla Savoiarda was made with fresh vegetables that still had their crisp to them and not made with the old tire frozen veg that you see at so many places. The Stracotto Alla Fiorentina was a huge portion and I enjoyed the leftovers for dinner on another evening. The Hazelnut cake was fine, but we haven't had a chocolate mousse that good in quite a while. Despite our late arrival, service was excellent and attentive. We will be back!

I thought the original owners from 1906 were still working in the place - everything was perfect, high quality and a delight. Eating in the outside patio made the more even more special. We can't wait to come back.

My daughter and I dined there on a recent Wednesday after a matinee. We dined in the beautiful garden. The food was delicious. I had the gnocchi, which was so light, with a creamy sauce which was perfect. My daughter had the filet mignon which was very tender and tasty, and we shared a buffalo mozzarella platter and a roasted pepper platter. Again, delicious. Sweet peppers and fresh creamy burrata. The service was impeccable. The food, ambiance and service were 5*!

2 of us Went here for pre-theatre dinner prixe fixe $63 We ordered crespelle alla savoiarda, burrata w/basil and tomatoe which would be excellent if not for grape tomatoes, filet mignon, (didn't care for the gravy) and the potatoes tasted old and cold, salmon was very good, lemon pistachio tart was also good but dry(old?) and fresh fruit. Higher priced than most other restaurants so disappointed. Described as oldest family owned restaurant and the dining room and decor seemingly original. Really needs an update! The old (dirty) table lamps have a cord ON the table. The service was mostly outstanding. Twice the waiter did say they would replace anything. We were time constrained and nothing warranted that. I would recommend for patronage but might not return myself since I am not in the city too often.
