The Backyard Restaurant and Bar, is an award winning restaurant located in the beautiful gardens of Sole East Resort.
It offers Mediterranean influenced farm-to-table dock-to-dish specialties. Sip cocktails in our heated swimming pool with poolside service, or on our oversized St. Tropez lounge beds, expansive manicured gardens, with DJ's and live entertainment.

We also offer indoor meeting spaces, outdoor wedding ceremony and reception sites for up to 300 plus guests.

The $52 steak was small and tough. Even using the steak knife was difficult to cut through the gristle. We mentioned it to the waiter and another gentleman who was working there but they did nothing about it. I will not be back and would not recommend Sole East .

The waiter was missing whenever we needed him, and the place was empty so it's not as if he was busy. There was electrical work being done around us while we ate. I ordered a specialty drink for $20 took only one sip returned it as it was too spicy asked for a Chardonnay instead. Not only did it take 20 minutes to receive the Chardonnay I was then shocked to be charged for the specialty drink that was by the way removed when I complained at my request. The food was average at best, but plated beautifully. The ambiance was lovely with exception of the workmen. Would not recommend, will not be returning.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the backyard restaurant at Sole East Hotel, and I must say, it was an absolutely delightful experience. The restaurant has undergone a beautiful remodeling, and the ambiance is simply stunning. I loved dining under the pergola, surrounded by lush greenery and twinkling lights. The atmosphere at the backyard restaurant was simply magical. The combination of the beautiful setting, delicious food, and excellent service created a truly memorable dining experience. Great ambiance! Walking through the lantern lit bamboo tree corridor is a nice dramatic entrance. Great outdoor area dimly lit with light music in the background. Ordered the grilled tuna with the truffle parmesan polenta (a must) and the mussels. Both were excellent! My only recommendation would be to offer the tuna with something other than the same chimichurri that comes with the steak.

One of our Montauk favorites: the outdoor setting is lovely, the food and drinks are delicious, and the staff is friendly and helpful.

We booked here because we heard they had live music on Thursdays. It was dead, there were only 5 tables occupied. The waiter made a number of mistakes. The restaurant seemed to make up the children's menu on the spot, they only offered buttered pasta and grilled chicken tenders. Not fried tenders like children tend to want. Steak was also bizarrely available on the kids menu. The grilled octopus was slimy with a weird texture, we sent it back, but they did not refund it on the bill. We ordered a bottle of wine, the waiter came over with a single glass. Understandable if there was a miscommunication but like then why didn't you ask everyone else what they wanted to drink? The creamy pimento was not creamy, under cooked. The swordfish was just OK. The paella was not good. The linguini was too oily. The bill for 5 adults and 2 children was $504 they did not comp anything despite a number of mistakes and complaints. Really disappointing considering how highly reviewed this place was. The ambiance was cool, with the pool and stuff but for the money extremely disappointed and expensive.

Very nice location. We sat outside and it was beautiful and quiet except for our talking(we were a party of 8). The food was very good but the chairs (directors chairs) were a nice idea but in need of being replaced so not so comfy. Overall I would recommend it though.

Kind of a bummer because we came in on a Monday with a confirmed reservation from Open Table, but the restaurant and kitchen were both closed without a heads up. They didn’t know we were coming - which was kinda weird and we were turned away. They did give us a great recommendation for another place close by, but just wanted to warn others to call ahead of time to confirm!
