First time eating here. It was burger night. They were cooked perfectly. Tried the pumpkin mushroom soup. Very creamy and flavorful. Will definitely be back

We’ve eaten at The Back Burner many times, and the food is consistently quite good. We started with Better Cheddar, which is a favorite, but this time it didn’t taste quite right, missing the usual flavor but still good. And the flatbread accompanying the cheese was way too thick and hard, not like the usual thin and delicate flatbread we’re used to. Then we had the beet salad, which we’ve also had before and enjoyed. This time the beets were cut in two large slices rather than chunks. The slices almost looked like pancakes - very strange. I ordered crab cakes, and my dining companion ordered surf & turf, which was a 5 oz filet and a crab cake. My crab cake didn’t have much flavor and was served on feta mashed potatoes. The feta was not whipped into the potatoes very well so I had mouthfuls of straight feta at times. Our server knew we were there for a birthday, but did not bring out the standard scoop of ice cream with a candle. It wasn’t necessary but the absence was noticed. All in all, this was not the level of quality we have become accustomed to at The Back Burner, but we will continue to come here in the hope this was a one-off. Maybe because it was Monday night, and the top tier staff works on the weekend.

We had dinner at the Back Burner and had the Surf and Turf. It was excellent. Our waitress was very friendly and took good care of us. The restaurant is very nice. We will definitely dine there again.

Autumn Salmon Salad was perfect. The dressing "on the side" provided too little dressing.

Server was great. Food was just ok. Entrees were not hot when served and nothing special. Wine list was embarrassing. Overall, not the experience we were hoping for. Won’t be back.

The food is excellent pricey, but you get what you pay for. We had Donna as our waitress. She was helpful and very attentive. This is our go to place in Hockessin

Had the veal marsala. Veal tough, over cooked. Seems like it was only warmed up. Not the kind of food I would have expected from the Back Burner. I didn't mention it to the waitress so as to slow down others who began eating their entree. Other in my party had the steak fille' which was good. Service seemed a bit rushed, but our waitress, Evan, was lovely. I found an error on my bill that was quickly resolved. Because of the bad meal, it will be a while before I consider eating there again especially since the entrees have become very pricey.

The portobello mushroom burger is the best “burger” I have ever enjoyed. Had it at the “Tuesday Burger Night” and returned to enjoy another for lunch today in the restaurant.
