The restaurant is very nice in terms of decoration and table layout. Seating is done thoughtfully to allow for conversation to occur at the table without interruption from others. Unfortunately, the wait staff were sometimes too eager to ask questions or move to the next course, which created interruption of conversations. Another distraction throughout the evening was the music being piped overhead. It is challenging to really enjoy a tasting menu and converse about it while Crocodile Rock, We Will Rock You, etc. is blaring through speakers all around you. Even after we complained and had the music volume reduced the music selection was not aligned with a fine dining experience. Many of the courses were nicely prepared and the ingredients well thought out. Others seemed to rely more on the name (e.g., Green Eggs and Ham) rather than the culinary qualities. The price was also something of a miss for the whole evening. The wait staff, while very pleasant, also should be educated about the importance of not serving a course when those dining are away from the table. My spouse went to the restroom and, while gone, a course was delivered to the table. Along with the food came the verbal description; however, only half of the 2-person party got the benefit of the details. In other nice restaurants, during tasting menus, it is customary to pause the service while a guest is away from the table. After all, for $245/person (plus tip), it would seem that wait staff actually waiting on the guest is not an unreasonable expectation. Overall, dinner and parking was just shy of $700 for 2 people, which seemed excessive given the overall experience. There are other high-end, great quality restaurants in Atlanta that do as well, if not better, but charge significantly less.
