My boyfriend and I spent over $1k on NYE dinner here. It did not meet our (admittedly high) expectations, nor come even close. We had to wait 30 mins past our reservation time to be seated, and we were seated all the way in the back of the restaurant next to the door into the garden room. Servers were bringing food and drinks in and out of the door all night, causing drafts of cold air and lots of ruckus that took away from the ambiance of the restaurant.
The service was absolutely the best part of the experience. We probably had 8+ people attending to us throughout the night, all very knowledgeable and attentive. You can tell the people who work there are passionate about the food and the craft.
Unfortunately, the food was just not very good. Even the bread was tough and hard to chew. I had the vegan tasting menu, which I was very excited about since it’s difficult as a vegan to dine high-end in this city. Nothing was terrible (except the beet dish, but I hate beets so I wouldn’t fault the chef). Nothing was exceptional, though. The risotto was rather flavorless and the avocado salad had a dressing so mild that it felt like simply eating avocado scooped out of the shell. The vegan “cheese” course was just nuts and some fruit, and the dessert was good, not great. I give them points for inclusivity, but for $1k I’d expect perfection.
Not a bad experience, but one I’d pay no more than $250-$300 for. I hope they can improve upon the consistency of the food while maintaining the wonderful service. Also, don’t seat people back next to the door to the garden room. It was cruel on such a chilly, busy night.
