"Great food, comfortable drink" is the mission, but at Alice’s, it's about much more than that. With a broad deck that overlooks the main stretch of Lake Hopatcong, fresh produce from nearby Halsey Island, and a naturally simple (but rustic) decor, Alice's is a place that celebrates lake living and good company.

Lake Hopatcong resident Alice Szigethy opened Alice's in June 2009 to expand the selection of lake destinations. In this reinvention of a building that had been a series of eateries over several decades, the space features vaulted ceilings, reclaimed-barn-wood walls, comfy booths, and a full bar that extends from the airy interior to the breezy deck. A mahogany seating bar runs the length of the deck so guests can sit and enjoy a clear panorama of the water, and an austere metal awning gives outdoor diners a shady place to enjoy the view, the breeze-and, of course, the food.

The staff was communicative about delays out of the kitchen. Nadine was an excellent server...great customer service and sense of humor. We had a wonderful experience and will be back.

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for some time and I’m sorry to say it was a disappointment. We had to sit inside on a beautiful night because a private party was in the section overlooking the lake. We did not have lake views where we were sitting which was one of the reasons we came here. The service was good and all the servers were pleasant. The patty melt I ordered was burnt. My friend’s salad was not good. The cocktail I had was delicious but for the prices the food also should have been delicious. Maybe the bar downstairs would have been a better choice but we won’t be back.

We went last evening. It was wonderful. All courses were very good. I loved the peach cobbler.! The view is stunning and relaxing. A wonderful night out

Ordered a medium rare steak and had to send it back because it was raw in the center. Steak came back after the rest of the table had just about finished dinner and it was still raw. Server was very polite and attentive but food was just ok. Better views and food from Windlass across the way.

Waitress was extremely nice and pleasant. Food was incredible and the prices were reasonable. Gorgeous view of the lake until some Karens who asked to sit close to the window asked for the shades to be closed. They should have been moved instead of ruining everyone’s view. The shades were reopened about 20 mins later when someone else spoke up. That was the only bad thing which is not on the restaurants fault. They have to appease everyone and that can be hard sometimes. Definitely will return

Not a huge variety. $20 for a sandwich without meat is way too much. Went for the view. Made reservations. No one there when we got there, but they could not seat us outside. Great waitress, but understaffed.
