Our waitress was prompt, cordial, and efficient. Food was served in a timely manner. The only complaint was the chocolate lava cake was missing the lava. Unfortunately it was over baked to the point that the lava was a brick. The filet mignon, mashed potatoes and vegetables were expertly prepared.

This was the second time we had Christmas dinner at AJ’s Steakhouse. It was very good in every regard.

Excellent food and service by Seth and Chuck! I always get the prime rib and it is the best! Very tender cut of beef you could cut with a plastic knife… please don’t change the meat sourcing as this is the best and well worth the $$$. AJs always has great specials too and is a good value as well. I dined on Christmas Day and despite being very busy, the staff did a great job and were efficient in service! Thanks again Seth as always!

Food tasted good. The temperature was terrible. This was a table of 4 and $300. Would not compete with a Ruth Chris or Filet in Ankeny for example. We eat at the bar a lot and have never had a temperature issue. We did not say anything due to Christmas..i asked my family and they did not want to cause a stir, but it was not great. 3 of the 4 of us. Prime Rib, 1, Holiday Dinner 2 and Filet 3 thought we should have them microwave it for a minute or 2. For the cost I expect the BEST service and food. This was certainly not that. Green Beans and Carrots were ice cold and the potatoes and meat were not a lot better. Thought they should serve it covered or it sat for a while somewhere. The pace was good. Service was good and very accommodating.

Ashton was very attentive and did an excellent job as our wait staff. The restaurant was quiet, tables not crowded together so we could have nice dinner conversations without yelling. The only complaint was in the temperature of the meats ordered. The prime rib was ordered “medium” (pink throughout) but was definitely medium-well and closer to well done. One filet ordered medium-well came out medium-rare. The kitchen corrected the filet, but we didn’t ask for the prime rib to be redone. All in all a good experience; we would go back!

My first time taking my wife here for her birthday. She had the De Burgo and enjoyed it very much. If you want to have a quiet dinner together, this is a great place with excellent food. I would definitely recommend.
