Founded in 1995, a tavola is one of the city’s best restaurants, bringing Chicago an intimate and authentic dining experience. At a tavola the emphasis is, appropriately, on the food. Authentic dishes from Italian regions are re-created using Italian cooking methods and the finest imported Italian products.

a tavola is the culmination of professional cooking experience by Daniel Bocik, a versatile chef from Chicago, who brings back home the knowledge and experience of an education at the California Culinary Academy and the finest restaurants of San Francisco, Paris, and Milan. To ensure the freshest food at a tavola, fresh fruits and vegetables are selected from a local organic farmer, meats and seafood are personally selected by Chef Dan from local markets.

Very bland pasta w/next to no flavor. Prob the worst gnocchi in Chicago… also the apple torta was more like baby food.

Wonderful experience. Served was kind and knowledgeable. Food was delicious. Shared the caprese salad and gnocchi. Both were excellent. Also ordered the grouper and bolognese. Everything was so fresh and tasty. Really great time. Will go back again.

It was my first dining experience here. Wonderful, attentive staff, great ambience and all the food ordered, from appetizers to main course was very good, except for the Cacio e Pepe. Very disappointing. Coda di Volpe serves the best Cacio, in my humble opinion.

A beloved neighborhood gem! I love this venue! the menu is a little limited but good. Great wines. Just soft drinks for the non alcohol drinkers unfortunately. Nice Prix fixe offering!

Absolutely wonderful! We cannot wait to go back. Service was great, and food decadent. Charming ambiance and would be great for a date, friends, solo or business meal.

We had high hopes for a tavola and were very disappointed. The worst gnocchi I have ever had. The mussels and clams tasted old and the short ribs/risotto tasted like garbage. The food was not edible.

I have been here before and had nice experiences. But this experience was so disappointing. My partner and I were craving pasta and the caico e pepe was soupy, the pasta was over cooked, and the cheese on top looked like a Kraft cheese I would have used at home.

We enjoyed our evening at a tavola. All courses of the dinner were delicious as always. Our waiter was very attentive to us also. We deliberately made a reservation for the patio because of the beautiful weather that was forecasted, and our confirmation stated that it was a Patio reservation for five people. However, we were ushered to a cramped corner near the patio. It was very disappointing to all of us.

Fantastic in every way - service, food, ambience. We will definitely return for a more romantic dinner for two. It will also be our new go to place to take friends and out-of-towners. They know what they are doing!!!
