Our biggest complaint was that we felt we were being rushed through our meal as the servers kept interrupting our conversation asking if we were finished with each course and it was obvious we weren’t by the amount of food on our plates still left as well as that we weren’t sitting back acting like we were looking for them. As an ex-server, you need to read the table and understand their pace. The steak I ordered medium rare with mashed potatoes with leeks came Medium Well with french fries and when I told them the order was incorrect the runner just looked at us and said “No, this is how it’s served”. I told him to read the menu as it clearly didn’t say french fries. Our waiter came to say the same thing but that he would get the correct side dish. Then I cut into the steak to find it way over cooked. At that point I was just frustrated as Avalon has been a favorite for years and last night hopefully was an off night especially since the desserts we had were tasteless so a quick small bite to taste did not lead to a second bite for either the chef’s cheesecake or the key lime pie. The staff noticed we hardly ate any of the food served to us but we were just too irritated with the pushy service to have any desire to linger. Some people actually do chew their food and want to have a conversation. If we wanted fast food we would have gone to Redhead Pizza. Again I just hope this was an off night for The Fish Called Avalon as I have had several great experiences there in the past. Also the reservation was booked with a note for the Birthday occasion but was ignored……

Been 2 years since our last visit to South Beach so had to eat at A Fish Called Avalon. As food as we remembered, maybe better. Rhe ambiance of sitting outside and people watching is great. The food over the top. Whole Bronzino and grouper topped with crab were delicious. Key lime pie is as good as i remembered Aimee’s service was impeccable A must place for food in South Beach.

The staff was great. Our waiter was attentive, but even when it got busy, we had someone who checked on us. The food was really good as well. My wife and I chose to go with the $60.00 3-course meal. We both had the tuna tartare which was very tasty. Then we had the macadamia nut crusted snapper and risotto. I could eat the risotto every night. My issue with the snapper was a preference thing where I thought the taste of the fish was covered up by the nuts. I would order it again for sure, just wish the fish flavor came through a little more (My wife liked it exactly how it was). We ended with a key lime pie which made me question why I had never had key lime pie in my life. It was phenomenal. The drinks were good and I would definitely recommend this place.

Marvin was a fabulous waiter and so sweet! The champagne and drinks were very reasonably priced and the food was fresh and perfectly seasoned! Lovely experience overall.

We had a wonderful evening. Food, service and lovely location were very enjoyable. Oysters, Octopus and Key Lime Pie were our favourites. Gin Spritz on summer drinks was also outstanding. All staff were attentive and made my boyfriend’s birthday a memorable experience. Thanks 🤗

My wife and I enjoyed and early dinner at the restaurant. We are virtually the only ones there as the crowds begin to show up as the evening progresses. Tons of people at all the restaurants at night. So we really ate at a time that was calm before the storm. Overall the food was excellent and we had a paella that was more than enough for both of us, and our server was just a wonderful. If you’d like to eat at a very nice restaurants without the crowds, you might wanna go early like us (6pm), But as long as you have a reservation, then it doesn’t matter when you go
