A city centre restaurant with a city centre buzz. In the heart of Newcastle's Quayside, 21 has an excitement and warmth all of its own. Smart but not stuffy, sleek but not pretentious, fun but not gimmicky - It's about eating good food in comfortably stylish surroundings.

21's food is big on flavour, short on fussiness. Fresh, seasonal ingredients are treated with flair and passion. classic bistro dishes, a little comfort food and still room for pudding. 21 is famous for welcoming guests with excellent value and warm hospitality.

    The food and beverages are always outstanding and the staff work exceptionally hard as a team to ensure every customer has a wonderfully and memorable experience. I would always wholeheartedly recommend.

    Absolutely delicious meal , the best one I have had there . lovely waiters , very busy but we weren’t rushed at all . Excellent experience

    Friday afternoon and the joint was jumping in a nice friendly way. Valentines special 5 course taster was chosen so we tried something different rather than choose our fabulous favourites like Souffle , Fresh seafood or Steak. The finesse and flavours are always spot on and this set menu was no different. Fabulous seafood , brilliant beef , and a show piece baked Alaska to finish with aplomb ! As usual the staff were flat out but always friendly and engaging. All in all , it is not cheap but it is way better quality wise and in fact is very good value compared to some of the local so called competitors to be honest. Well worth a try if you have never been. We think of it as a wee monthly treat that we look forward to , savour at the time , and look forward to the next visit.

    A fabulous Valentine's Day special lunch with wine pairings. The food was simply wonderful, the wines chosen very interesting ( not seen them all before) and perfect with each course and the service, as you would expect from 21, was exemplary, especially from the sommelier, who took time to talk about the paired wines very informatively without ever sounding patronising. All in all, a delightful experience at our favourite restaurant.

    It’s the mark of a good restaurant that it knows what to do when something doesn’t go according to plan. Our starters were excellent. We both ordered the pan fried halibut for mains. This is one of 21’s most reliable dishes but unfortunately this time something went wrong. My wife’s was very undercooked and mine, while just about ok, was spoiled by a soggy skin that hadn’t met the pan. Fair play, our waiter took charge and replaced my wife’s and offered to replace mine. The new plate was perfect and additional vegetables were provided as well. Puddings and coffees completed the meal. So be assured, in this restaurant if something does go wrong, it is rectified swiftly and with no fuss.

    Great flavours, well presented, friendly and considerate staff, quality environment. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable meal, great value for money, and would definitely recommend and return.
