We’re a farm-to-table restaurant that’s redefining what fine dining means. We work with local vendors and farmers to find the freshest, locally sourced ingredients. We understand the challenges of finding high-quality options that unique, vegan or allergy-friendly, especially since the owner has Celiac Disease herself, among other dietary restrictions. Our kitchen creates fresh food from scratch every day and can customize to your needs, so we’ve got you covered. Plus, we're the only restaurant in McHenry County to have received Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence, and our expert staff can help you choose the perfect pairing.

For us, fine dining is more than the very best in food, service and atmosphere. It’s a conversation and a connection to others. We believe everyone deserves good food so we’ve started a movement to do just that.

First time here, it started by trying to call for a reservation which must be done online and with a credit card to hold, in the event you have to cancel you are charged a fee. We got there at our reservation time and didn’t have a table ready, no big deal we waited at the bar until our table was ready. Bartenders were nice but looked very busy, no time to really talk with us. We get to our table and waited over 10 minutes for a server to finally greet us, mind you it’s 8:15pm by this time, the tables around us were wrapping up, so not quite sure why we waited so long. So since we were waiting we had a long time to review the menu and when she came we decided to put in our order. Glad we did because the food took almost 40 minutes. Appetizers: The goat cheese sweet potato meatballs were really bad. The Brussels were fantastic, onion rings were just fine. The main course was okay for 3 of the group and amazing for 1. Get the Pork! It was the most amazing enjoyable pork schnitzel ever. The filet was bland needed garlic butter or something, the hanger steak was average at best. We skipped dessert. Didn’t want to keep waiting. Overall it was fine, but expensive and didn’t get the wow factor we were hoping for.

It had been a while since having a date night at 1776. So with the release of the new menu we decided we wanted to head back to try one of our favorite local places. I will say that this new menu was phenomenal, everything that we ordered was amazing. We ordered a few cocktails that were delicious. We both loved our appetizer of cheese curds with a curry sauce. We each loved our entrees as well and would have loved to try everything on the menu, so needless to say we will be back to try the new offerings. Our server Josh was great! He was attentive, but not overly, which allowed us to enjoy our date night and dinner. The thing that surprised me the most however, was the value! I’ll be honest, I didn’t even look at any of the prices on the menu, but I was pleasantly surprised when our check arrived. By no means was this a “cheap” dinner, but rather one of three best values we’ve had in a very long time. It seems like every time we’ve gone out lately the prices keep going up, but the service and menu offerings aren’t matching the experience, we felt the opposite last night, quality, service, atmosphere, and value exceeded our expectations.

A lovely restaurant with an intimate ambiance, great for a date night. Food was very good. Drinks and dessert were delicious.

We selected 1776 for our wedding anniversary dinner. We had Josh as our sever. Josh was upbeat, knowledgeable of the food , attentive and personable. Our food was delivered quickly and hot, our portions were perfect. Although the series quick we never felt like we were being rushed. 1776 has a quiet intimate setting, perfect for casual conversation during dinner. We will 100% be back

Off night. It’s been waaaay better. Service was cheerful but slow, kitchen backed up, is my guess. Food was off from its normal excellence.

Special and always delicious! This gluten free kitchen prepares its food with the highest quality ingredients in true farm to table style. We always start things off with the soup…the mushroom is to die for. The s’mores pie was yummy! The wine list is extensive. We always try a different bottle and are never disappointed. The service staff are delightful, considerate, professional and add to the entire gourmet dining experience. My husband celebrated his birthday with a beautiful on special steak. We are excited for the next menu to come out! Thank you 1776 for another awesome night out!

Underwhelmed. Server was nice and knowledgeable, but did not check in on us once food arrived. Food was average.

Overall the food was good. Note, the pork chop was a good portion but, it came without any starch side. The clam appetizer was a disappointment. Nothing to soak up the sauce. Was told I had to order it (bread?) after I finished it. They could not find the bottle of wine that was ordered from their extensive list. Took 30 min. to get it and chill it. Maybe the list is too big to timely manage. My guest ordered an old fashion and took 20 min. to get. He was told most drinks take 15 to 20 min to get.

It was a good one time experience. Looks like a fantastic wine selection if that's your jam. Ratatouille was flavorless according to the guy who ate it. Portion sizes were ok, didn't leave stuffed, didn't leave hungry either. For a $300 tab (tip included) we did it all except soup and salad. A touch much for the working class family. Might do them well to find a classic American dish and crush that one for those who don't fancy themselves a gourmand.

It was our anniversary and Katherine was absolutely wonderful . She was great with her timing and gave us the perfect amount of attentiveness. Food:the prawn appetizer was skimpy with only two pieces. Croquettes were good, sauce …we could have eaten a bucket. Mahi mahi was delicate and flaky and steak was good. Passion fruit dessert was perfect.
