We’re a farm-to-table restaurant that’s redefining what fine dining means. We work with local vendors and farmers to find the freshest, locally sourced ingredients. We understand the challenges of finding high-quality options that unique, vegan or allergy-friendly, especially since the owner has Celiac Disease herself, among other dietary restrictions. Our kitchen creates fresh food from scratch every day and can customize to your needs, so we’ve got you covered. Plus, we're the only restaurant in McHenry County to have received Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence, and our expert staff can help you choose the perfect pairing.

For us, fine dining is more than the very best in food, service and atmosphere. It’s a conversation and a connection to others. We believe everyone deserves good food so we’ve started a movement to do just that.

    Beautifully renovated. Food was all delicious, and service was good, but very rushed. We wanted to have a relaxing evening with friends, and felt like we were rushed through each step from ordering to each course. Finished drinks, apps, soup, dinner and dessert in an hour 15 minutes. Wanted to stay and talk but waitress was over every 5 minutes asking if there was anything else. There were open tables so we weren’t taking up a table that could have been served at that point. Overall good, but disappointed we weren’t rushed through meal.

    The food and service at 1776 has gone downhill over the past 2 years. Most dishes are bland and overpriced for what you are now getting. They used to have creative dishes and have now replaced them with fried pickles, cheese curds, etc. My advice to ownership is to hire a full time chef with a vision and recreate the magic that you had 4 years ago.

    It was fantastic. Had a friend in from out of town and we had a great time. The servers were great always there when ever we needed anything. The owner was our waitress and couldn’t have been more pleasant. Oh and by the way the food was delicious from appetizers to dessert. We are definitely going back.

    Farm to table with the kitchen being totally gluten free. The mushroom soup was favorite. The food was really good, but the service was spread across to many tables to give us much attention.

    1776 has a strict reservation policy, yet it is quite lax in honoring reservations. We arrived on -time for our reservation but waited almost thirty minutes for our table. While the food was excellent, portions are small and service is slow.

    Everything from checking in to dessert far exceeded our expectations. The experience was memorable as was the delicious food. Our servers were very friendly and attentive throughout the evening. I cannot recommend this beautiful restaurant enough to those that are looking for quality dishes, amazing staff and peaceful dining setting. They also made our visit special as it was our sons birthday.
